Teachers' and Administrators' Concerns during Implementation of Online Credit Recovery Program in an Urban School District
Salami, Abdoulaye Abdoul-Aziz
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Southern Connecticut State University
This explanatory mixed methods study aimed to determine what concerns teachers and administrators have during the implementation of online credit recovery program in an urban district. It drew on the Stages of Concern (SOC) dimension of the Concern-Based Adoption Model (Hall & Hord, 2006) to discuss issues of change management and implementation. 50 teachers and 7 administrators completed the SOC questionnaire (George, Hall & Stiegelbauer, 2006) and 6 teachers and 3 administrators participated in face-to-face interviews. Data revealed that the lack of information about the online credit recovery program led to teachers and administrators having high personal concerns intensity. Data also indicated that teachers' concerns have a split peak at Personal stage followed by Informational stage whereas administrators were more concerned about the impact of the online credit recovery program on students. Although administrators were aware of the need for more collaboration they felt unable to create the time for it to happen due to other obligations and priorities.
