This article reviews the International Labour Organisation's standard-setting activities to combat or regulate child labor (fixing of a minimum age for employment or work, establishment of the conditions under which children may work); discusses the means of enforcing standards; and describes the situation in practice. Wage work done at home has existed for more than a century. It is performed mainly by women and the disabled and can be a concealed form of child labor. This article examines the main aspects of the subject and advocates increased legal protection. (JOW)
