This annotated bibliography consists of eleven recent texts in psycholinguistics that the English as a second language (ESL) teacher who is not a specialist in the field may find relevant. (CFM)

ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers must keep several things in mind when preparing materials. Linguistics is still a major descipline to turn to for insights. Recent language research too is valuable. Teachers should be aware of the many good materials already in existence which can be adapted. (CFM)

Discusses methods by which a teacher of English as a second language in a foreign country can teach himself/herself the language of that country. Such methods include keeping a diary, studying grammar, using the mass media, and engaging native speakers in conversation whenever possible. (SED)

Ideally the ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher should have access to elaborate audiovisual equipment. When this is not possible due to stringent budgeting, extremely effective lessons can be based on a simple picture or picture series. The same pictures can be reused to teach a variety of structures.
