Eastern Illinois University Beginning Teacher Assistance Program.
Ochs, Beverly J.
Eastern Illinois University's Beginning Teacher Assistance Program became effective Fall, 1985 for all graduates of the university who are currently employed as beginning teachers in the state of Illinois. Detailed information on all steps involved in the full operation of the program is presented. This program will provide Eastern faculty for consultation and professional services to assist the beginning teacher and his/her immediate supervisor in planning a program of support in analyzing, understanding, or resolving any areas of concern during the initial year of teaching. Beginning teacher assistance seminars are also scheduled for the beginning teachers throughout the state. These follow-up seminars provide teachers with the opportunity to discuss their experiences during their first classroom assignment and may help identify where they may like additional assistance. A set of announcement letters and other publicity materials, as well as registration, evaluation, and other forms pertaining to the program are appended. (Author/JD)
