This report assesses the results of the administration, during June of 1987, of the Grade 12 diploma examinations in the Province of Alberta, Canada. Most of the data is tabulated. The examination program consists of course-specific examinations that are based on the prescribed Program of Studies for Senior High Schools for the following courses: English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Language, and Literature; the Language and Literature course is available in French only. The report figures are based on all students for whom both a school-awarded mark and a diploma examination are available. This group comprises virtually all students completing the examination and includes students in public and private school. The report consists of general information about the diploma examinations program, followed by information specific to each subject. Letter grade distributions, averages, and standard deviations for school awarded, diploma examination, and final blended marks are provided. Diploma examination results are presented separately for written-response and multiple-choice items and selected reporting categories. Examination blueprints, which form the basis for reporting categories, are also included. (TJH)
