Assessing Handwriting in Preschool-Aged Children: Feasibility and Construct Validity of the "Just Write!" Tool

Researchers utilized a prospective cohort study design to explore the feasibility and construct validity of a novel handwriting assessment for preschoolers, the Just Write! (JW), written by the authors. Thirty-seven children from an area preschool participated in the study by completing the JW and the Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration (VMI). The results indicate the JW is feasible and sensitive to change. In addition, the authors consider implications for further standardization of the JW assessment.
