Examined the short form and eight subtests of the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency with a sample of preschoolers to assess its potential for discriminating among ages and between sexes and to see whether the short form accounted for a major portion of the variability of the complete battery. The underlying structure of the motor abilities represented by the "Short Form of the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency," along with the consistency of the emerging factors by sex and two chronological age (CA) levels, were studied with 765 nondisabled children 4.6 to 14.6 years old. This paper describes the short form of the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, 14 items that measure motor skill development. The results of a standardization study of nonhandicapped students (5-14 years old) are presented. Uses of the test for evaluating students in need of special education are discussed. (PP)
