The results from the third administration of the 8th and 11th grade science and social studies portions of the Delaware Student Testing Program (DSTP) represent an important step in Delawares efforts to educate all students to a higher level. Science and social studies data for grades 8 and 11 are summarized here, and the results for grades 4 and 6 are to be published separately. The data are reported as Standards-Based Scores (SBSs) and Performance Levels (PLs). The SBSs measure students progress toward Delaware standards in each content area. The SBSs in science and social studies come from items developed in Delaware. PLs tell how students are performing relative to the states content standards. Delaware has five performance levels. There are no national percentile rankings for the science and social studies tests. Data are also provided on student participation in these tests, with information on exemptions and testing accommodations. Appendix A contains district results, and Appendix B contains school results. Appendix C contains district disagregations for science and social studies. (Contains 16 tables and 5 charts.) (SLD)
