Hsu, Louis M. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1988
Demonstrates the consequences on total misdiagnosis rates of using conventional (fixed) rather than flexible (Bayesian) rules when using the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory in diagnosis. Ward, L. Charles; Bishop, Emmett R., Jr. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Performed a principal axes factor anlaysis on Mini-Mult item data obtained from 249 medical and psychiatric patients. Six factors were extracted. Nonoverlapping summative scales were constructed and their reliabilities evaluated. The scales were recommended for applications in which it is desirable to avoid excessive item overlap. (JAC)

Rogers, Richard – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1983
Reviewed clinical usefulness of obvious and subtle Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory subscales in the detection of malingering. Pritchard, David A.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1980
Concludes that there is no evidence for differential validity in the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) between racial subgroups and that black norms for the MMPI are premature. Criticism of these findings is also presented. (Author/BEF)

Sellbom, Martin; Ben-Porath, Yossef S.; McNulty, John L.; Arbisi, Paul A.; Graham, John R. – Assessment, 2006
The frequency, origin, and interpretative implications of elevation differences on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) clinical and restructured clinical (RC) scales were examined. Two large clinical samples consisting of 1,770 outpatients and 2,438 inpatients were used for this study. Three potential factors…

Newmark, Charles S. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1981
Provides a brief synopsis of the utility of Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) short forms with psychiatric, medical and normal samples. Strengths and limitations of each MMPI short form are discussed. (Author)
Descriptors: Clinical Psychology, Comparative Analysis, Diagnostic Tests, Personality Measures

Fisher, Dennis G.; And Others – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1989
To clarify methodological differences, five studies with cluster analysis solutions of 183 Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) profiles of male heroin addicts were critically reviewed. The methodologies used were replicated. A solution using complete linkage with Pearson correlation and recommendations for future cluster analysis…

Helfritz, Laura E.; Stanford, Matthew S.; Conklin, Sarah M.; Greve, Kevin W.; Villemarette-Pittman, Nicole R.; Houston, Rebecca J. – Psychological Record, 2006
Clinical assessment of domestic violence has traditionally relied on self-report methods of data collection, using structured interviews and lengthy questionnaires such as the MMPI-2. However, in certain situations such as court-ordered domestic violence evaluations, information obtained through self-report methods may be tainted because of…

Plant, Walter T. – 1979
With the resurgence of interest in sex differences research, it is important to use a "confidence interval" strategy in organizing and interpreting material rather than a strategy of statistical significance or non-significance. Investigators are urged to go beyond the reporting of statistical significance and to determine something…
