Kayis, Ahmet Rifat; Ceyhan, Aydogan Aykut – Educational Sciences: Theory and Practice, 2015
It is the aim of this research to investigate the achievement goals of university students. Firstly, university students' adoption levels of achievement goals are described. Next, how their level of academic self-efficacy, irrational beliefs, perfectionism, self-determination, locus of control and gender predict each achievement goal is depicted.…

Karatas, Zeynep; Tagay, Ozlem – International Education Studies, 2012
The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between self-esteem, locus of control and multidimensional perfectionism, and the extent to which the variables of self-esteem, locus of control and multidimensional perfectionism contribute to the prediction of subjective well-being. The study was carried out with 318 final…

Powell, Ronald R. – Library and Information Science Research, An International Journal, 1984
Examines the relationship between personality, as represented by Rotter's internal versus external control of reinforcement (locus of control), and frequency of public library use by university freshmen. Review of literature, hypothesis for study, definitions (independent and dependent variables), methodology and data collection, and findings are…

Jacobs, Keith W. – Southern Journal of Educational Research, 1977
Two separate studies using Form IV of the Sensation-Seeking Scale (SSS) are reported. The first study correlates SSS by factor and sex with the earlier Form II SSS, supporting the reliability of the General SSS scale and discriminant validity of the Form IV SSS factor scales in relationship to general sensation-seeking. In the second study,…

Scott, Donald P.; Severance, Laurence – 1972
Rotter's Internal-External (I-E) locus of control scale, the MMPI, and the CPI were administered to 100 males in a nonacademic environment. Relationships between I-E and the other measures were examined: a sizeable amount of the variance in I-E scores was accounted for by MMPI and CPI scales, but a discriminant analysis failed to enable reliable…

Janzen, H. L.; Beeken, D. – Alberta Journal of Educational Research, 1973
The purpose of this paper is to examine the value of the locus of control construct as a predictor of attitudes, such as those considered by Janzen, Beeken and Hritzuk, and as a useful predictor of other personality variables. (Author/RK)

Omizo, Michael M.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
The relationship was examined between six scales of the Locus of Control for Three Achievement Domains (LOCITAD), the Nowicki-Strickland Locus of Control Scale, and the Rotter Internal-External Scale. Subjects were 140 adolescent boys and girls. Significant correlations provided some support for LOCITAD's validity. (Author/GDC)

Zuckerman, Miron; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
A factor analysis of Rotter's internal-external locus of control scale is described. The four factors extracted were there correlated with several political attitude instruments. Results lead authors to suggest a modification in Rotter's scale, particularly in the "just world" items. (JKS)

Walkey, Frank H. – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1979
The internal-external locus of control scales of Rotter and Levenson and the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale were completed by 156 undergraduates. The three-factor structure underlying Levenson's questionnaire was clearly confirmed. Some new evidence for the multidimensionality of Rotter's scale was also presented. (Author/GDC)
