Klett, William G.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1986
Compared the abilities of the most recent editions of the Henmon-Nelson and the Slosson tests to estimate Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (Revised) scaled scores and intelligence quotients. The Henmon-Nelson's validity coefficients were higher than their counterparts for the Slosson, but the Slosson had a higher ceiling and a lower floor.…

Finch, A. J., Jr.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1983
Children referred for psychological evaluations of completed the Bender-Gestalt and then reproduced designs from memory. Numbers of designs recalled increased with age and Performance Intelligence Quotient. The importance of developmental level in evaluation and establishment of cut-off recall scores for designs were discussed. (Author/RD)

Raskin, Larry M.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1974
The authors report on two studies showing that the Slosson Intelligence Test yields higher scores than the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test for both nursery school and third-grade children, indicating that care should be taken when the SIT is used for intellectual screening. (Author)

Hedl, John Joseph, Jr. – 1971
A study demonstrated the feasibility, reliability and validity of a computer-administered intelligence test. The computer-based test (Slosson Intelligence Test) was compared with a conventional examiner-administered test given to the same college students within the same week. In addition it was evaluated as a predictor of college grade point…

Bondy, Andrew S.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
A comparison was made between the Slosson Intelligence Test and the McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities for 44 minority preschoolers. The mean Slosson score was 13.8 points higher than the mean McCarthy score. The correlation between the scores was .81. Effects of inflated Slosson scores for screening purposes are considered. Hunter, Maxwell W.; Ballash, Joan B. – Diagnostique, 1990
The Slosson Intelligence Test (SIT) and the Stanford-Binet, Fourth Edition (SBIV) were administered to 95 elementary students referred because of either learning problems or potential giftedness. SIT scores predicted SBIV verbal scores more accurately than composite scores. Overall the SIT predicted SBIV scores better for students with learning…

Miller, Wallace D. – Southern Journal of Educational Research, 1973
The purposes of this study were to determine which of the tests, PPVT, SIT, or Lorge-Thorndike (LT), may be the most useful to the classroom teacher in predicting reading achievement, for use in reading expectancy formulas, and for analyzing I.Q. scores obtained on different tests. (Author/RK)

Hale, Robert L.; Potok, Audrey A. – Diagnostique, 1981
The results indicated that the SIT IQ predicts statistically distinct reading scores depending upon the sex of the child being evaluated. It is suggested that the bias will need to be considered in making psychological referrals about children. Derived regression equations for both boys and girls are provided. (Author)

Laskey, Marcia L.; Totoraitis, Ann – 1992
An annotated list of tests for assessing students' learning abilities is provided in this document. Each annotation contains information that helps the educator gauge the negative and positive aspects of the tests. Information useful in understanding intelligence quotient (IQ) subscores and their implications is included. The tests described are…

Gersten, Russell M.; And Others – 1981
This study examines the relationship between IQ and yearly academic growth rate in reading and mathematics for low income children in the primary grades involved in the Direct Instruction Follow Through program (DIFT). Low income children, from 20 communities in the United States, who engaged in the DIFT program between 1969 and 1977 for either 3…

Leicht, David J.; And Others – 1984
Path analysis was used to discover predictors of personality, school conduct, and distractibility-hyperactivity problems in this 4-year longitudinal study of 173 rural children. While previous studies had shown that children's behavior disorders are related to sex of child, family disruption, IQ, Bender-Gestalt Test scores, and socioeconomic…
