This study investigated the influence of group counseling on self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and hostility in three groups of adult females. Results indicated a significant change in the level of self-esteem in one group that had no distracting crises to contend with. No significant changes appeared in anxiety, depression or hostility. It was noted that many students seeking assistance from university counselors have negative self-concepts. A study was undertaken at the University of Tasmania of members of a self-enhancement group.
