Developing Writing Prompts for TEAMS Written Composition.

Developed in response to numerous requests from curriculum specialists and classroom teachers, this booklet addresses student assessment in written composition. Its purpose is: (1) to assist teachers in constructing writing prompts which correspond to the TEAMS (Texas Educational Assessment of Minimum Skills) writing objectives and measurement specifications; (2) to provide sample writing prompts; and (3) to guide teachers in the evaluation of their students' written compositions. It includes sample prompts and sample writing assignments for each of grades 3, 5, 7, and 9 for the various forms of writing; a discussion of purpose; and scoring suggestions. (RAE)
