Barbieri, Marty
This curriculum guide for middle school teachers contains eight units that correspond to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Career Orientation. The units cover the following topics: (1) career planning foundations (interests, aptitudes, and attitudes); (2) locating, analyzing, and applying career information (including information on entrepreneurship); (3) transferable skills; (4) job search skills and international employment; (5) the impact of career choice on personal lifestyle (money management); (6) career planning (setting goals, decision making, and educational requirements); (7) productive work habits and team work skills; and (8) the effects of societal changes on career opportunities. Each unit is divided into one-to-seven stand-alone instructional modules that contain a teacher overview providing the order of presentation of material; notes identifying the instructional purpose of student material; student and teacher information and activity sheets, student tests, and teacher transparency masters; and a teacher answer key.
