Meléndez, Juan C.; Alfonso-Benlliure, Vicente; Mayordomo, Teresa; Sales, Alicia – Creativity Research Journal, 2016
The purpose of the study was to test a model of causal relationships among cognitive reserve (CR), personality variables such as Neuroticism and Openness to experience, and divergent thinking (DT), independently evaluating performance in different domains (verbal and graphic). It was hypothesized that CR, Openness, and Neuroticism would each…

Nelson, Jason M.; Lindstrom, Will; Foels, Patricia A. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 2015
Test anxiety and its correlates were examined with college students with and without specific reading disability (RD; n = 50 in each group). Results indicated that college students with RD reported higher test anxiety than did those without RD, and the magnitude of these differences was in the medium range on two test anxiety scales. Relative to…

Mellard, Daryl F.; Woods, Kari L.; Md Desa, Z. Deana; Vuyk, M. Alexandra – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 2015
This exploratory study identified underlying skill and ability differences among subgroups of adolescent and young adult struggling readers (N = 290) overall and in relation to a fluency-based instructional grouping method. Jones, Manon W.; Branigan, Holly P.; Parra, Mario A.; Logie, Robert H. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, 2013
The ability to learn visual-phonological associations is a unique predictor of word reading, and individuals with developmental dyslexia show impaired ability in learning these associations. In this study, we compared developmentally dyslexic and nondyslexic adults on their ability to form cross-modal associations (or "bindings") based…

Small, Arnold; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1983
Studied weight-gain 127 primary anorexics by examining the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale and the Rorschach for indices that may predict improvement. Results showed that cognitive-focusing skills, measured by the Wechsler, account for roughly half of the variance and were good predictors of weight gain. (WAS)
