Scaled scores on Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale subtests were compared among five samples of institutionalized mentally retarded (aged 16 - 71 years) from the east coast (509 Ss), west coast (436 Ss), and three from the midwest (113, 51, and 111 Ss). (Author/PHR)

Composite reliability and standard errors of measurement were computed for prorated Verbal, Performance, and Full-Scale intelligence quotient (IQ) scores from a seven-subtest short form of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised. This study used 126 young adult black and white male inmates to test the comparability of the Pauker and Statz and Mogul short forms with the standard Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS). The Pauker form was superior with this population. Findings should not be generalized to other ages, races, or to women. (Author/CP)
