Presents study results of Verbal and Performance Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised subscales collected from Native (n=691) and non-Native (n=234) children in grades 2 and 4 at four sites. Native children had substantially lower IQ scores, especially pronounced for the verbal subscales. Discusses implications for understanding IQ differences and for interventions to promote Native children's academic success. (Author/JDM)
