Presented are some current facts about symbol manipulators and their relation to high school mathematics. The development of computer algebra systems is discussed. Considers the philosophy of dealing with computer learning including: drill and practice, using a word processor, problem solving, remedial work, simulations, tutorials, computer managed instruction, computer literacy, and inservice education.
