This manual on the provision of Professional, Industrial, and Commercial Updating (PICKUP) programming by colleges in England, Scotland, and Wales consists of a summary of recommendations, an introduction, 8 sections, and 11 appendices. Section 1 discusses planning; the requirements of the 1988 Education Reform Act; provision of programming; PICKUP policy; and monitoring and evaluation, including performance indicators. Section 2 identifies the responsibilities of the Local Education Authority, the college, staff, and college companies. Section 3 discusses finance. Costing and pricing are discussed in Section 4. Section 5 discusses staffing and staff development. Section 6 deals with other resources, such as equipment services, and revenue spending. Section 7 identifies the conditions of service, and section 8 presents conclusions. Appendix A lists 37 references. Appendix B lists 12 PICKUP regional development agents.
