The Doctoral Debate
Orr, Margaret Terry
School Administrator, v64 n7 p16 Aug 2007
The value of the doctorate in educational administration has been debated in recent years over its appropriateness as a qualification for superintendency. Underlying these debates are two overlapping trends. One is increasing program availability and shifts in institutional type, and the second is changes in program content and dissertation research to become more relevant to preparation for effective leadership. This article discusses these trends and their implications in educational leadership. (Contains 1 table.)
