Indiana Partners in Education Handbook.
Dwyer, Margaret M.; McRae, Michele, Ed.
This handbook was developed to encourage business/education partnerships throughout Indiana. The first section introduces the idea of business-education partnerships and provides some examples. It then outlines principles for a successful partnership, warns against possible pitfalls, and estimates partnership costs. In the second section, the role of the community in partnerships is addressed. The third section describes the role of the business partner. Topics explored include benefits from the business perspective, characteristics of a successful business partner, the role of the chief executive officer, and the business volunteer leader's role. The fourth section discusses the school's role, including benefits from the school perspective, characteristics of a successful school partner, and the roles of the school principal, school volunteer leader, and the educator volunteer. The bulk of the document consists of training materials on the following subjects: company-school collaboration, recruiting and assessing a partner, volunteer leaders, managing a successful partnership, effective groups, and program design, implementation, promotion, and evaluation.
