Weaknesses in traditional forms of social-emotional curriculum development are identified. In the Data Based Curriculum Project, teachers submit, on a standard reporting form, interventions they have found to be effective in changing student behavior, and forms are duplicated, distributed to each participant, and filed by behavior label. Three case studies of students (aged 8-13) with emotional and behavior problems are presented to illustrate issues in teacher-parent communication difficulties. Teachers' visits to the students' homes were used as part of a family systems approach in successfully devising a method to reinforce behavior change. (JDD)
