As part of a project in working class history, ninth grade students conduct a bean bake for 1500 people. They cook pork-and-beans in huge black pots fueled day and night by two cords of wood and bake 1500 rolls of bread. An old-fashioned hoedown follows the feed. (KC)

The School of Education at the University of Exeter (England) is developing a curriculum project in which secondary school students learn history by using prepared computer programs, by using the computer as an electronic blackboard, and by doing their own programing. Describes a field experience project where students traveled to the Concordia Language Villages, Moorhead, Minnesota, for a one-day conference. Prior to the conference students researched school systems in other countries and assumed the roles of representatives. They then worked towards a consensus for an ideal school. (MJP)
