Reflections on America, v1 Nov 1986 v2 Jan 1987
A series of articles celebrating the Bicentennial of the Constitution is presented in two volumes. The first article in Volume 1 is an interview by Bernard Murchland with Barbara Jordan discussing the effectiveness of the original Constitution. The second article, "If I Were President," is an interview by Bernard Murchland with Studs Terkel on the kind of United States seen by Terkel. David Mathews authored the last article which is the first part of a series on an in-depth look at the basic tenets of American democracy. An interview with Warren E. Burger concerning his position as Chairman of the Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution is the first article in Volume 2. Burger expresses his gratitude that the Congress has extended the life of the Commission to 1991 so the country can celebrate the entire Constitution. The second article is an interview with Pete Rose on "Baseball and the Game of Life" in which Rose discusses the relationship between sports and values in the United States.
