Geographic Origins of Students, Fall 1989. Volume I.
State Univ. of New York, Albany. Central Staff Office of Institutional Research.
The results of the annual survey of the geographic origins, or permanent residence, of students attending institutions of the State University of New York (SUNY) during the fall 1989 term are presented in three volumes. This first volume uses the individual institution (or institutional type) as the unit of analysis. Student data elements in the report include student level, student load, student history (first-time/transfer), and permanent residence. Institutional data elements include county of institution location, New York State Planning Region, and contiguous counties. The volume is divided into two main parts. Part I summarizes the distribution of all credit course students by load, level, and residency, and includes various relative distance measures for New York State residents to provide a measure of the enrollment impact of the "local" student population. Part I also displays the origins of new (first-time and transfer) undergraduate students. Part II displays each institution's enrollment by level, load, history, and permanent residence. In addition, Part II contains various tables which summarize the total State University system as well as the institutions by type. Also included in the report are a list of the regions, locations, and contiguous counties used for each of the institutions; and a publications list of SUNY's Central Staff Office of Institutional Research.
