This article reviews the literature on parenthood by people with intellectual disability including parenting after deinstitutionalization, parenting for those already identified as needing assistance, parenting in comparison with other parents, outcomes for children of intellectually disabled parents, and parent experiences before the courts. The heterogeneity of parenting experiences for this population is noted. (DB)
