Describes study of eighth grade students conducted to test the effectiveness of mnemonic techniques to recall attributes of minerals. Results indicate that mnemonic instruction, when accompanied by experimentor-provided keywords and mnemonic illustrations, produced superior recall on both immediate and delayed performance tests.
