Reviews the literature on student notetaking and review behaviors and the effects of these behaviors on academic achievement. University students viewed a videotaped lecture which was experimentally manipulated to vary in content coverage and lecturer expressiveness and then completed an objective exam. This study investigated the effectiveness of videotape as a medium for communicating skills in audiovisual instruction to education students at a university. Results indicate videotape mediated instruction can be better for developing skills in some practical aspects of audiovisual instruction than the lecture method. (MBR)
