Practical Activities for Out-of-School Science and Technology Education. Science and Technology Education Document Series No. 17.
Venkatasamy, D.; And Others
A pilot project was undertaken in 1984 at the Mauritius Institute of Education for the purpose of developing and preparing teaching/learning materials for out-of-school Science and Technology Education programs. This volume is one in a series of UNESCO programs which encourage an international exchange of ideas and information on science and technology education. This specific study is based on experimental work related to technical design, nutrition, and agriculture. Though prepared in Mauritius, the materials offer scope for adaptation or adoption elsewhere. This guide contains three major units of work which focus on: (1) the bagasse burner; (2) food preservation; and (3) kitchen gardening. Each unit consists of a list of aims and objectives, needed materials, background information, and activities. A general overview of the project is provided in which broad objectives, a timeline, and project materials and experiences are explained. (ML)
