This textbook is targeted at educators teaching students the seventh year in spoken and written English. Its objectives are: (1) a full development of the sentence sense, including the ability to analyze commonly used grammatical constructions and to discriminate accurately between dependent clauses and sentences; (2) reasonable skill in writing sentences and paragraphs, together with the ability to criticize intelligently one's own work and the work of others; (3) the elimination of common errors in speaking and writing; (4) a confident grasp of the parts of speech; (5) an enriched vocabulary, through directed word study; and (6) the ability to write accurately both friendly letters and business letters.
