Established as an institution dedicated to the urban poor, Hostos Community College (New York) has developed innovative strategies in dental hygiene education for the aspiring but academically deficient student and the compromised student with other obligations. Strategies used include remediation, innovative curricula, and recruitment tools. (MSE)
