Lisa Polk
Texas Association for Literacy Education Yearbook, v11 p56-62 2024
This article discusses the implementation of interactive literacy approaches that maximize learning for students. Instructional implications are shared along with prospective benefits offered to students when practices are applied. It also provides educators with feasible, generative actions to adapt or incorporate as appropriate to their learning contexts. Opportunities to connect interdisciplinary content, multilingual texts, translanguaging, and digital literacy practices are also described. The information and activities shared in this article result from active learning experiences and the presentation as shared with educators in professional learning sessions. Although these activities are used within a variety of learning contexts, the importance of considering students' learning goals and needs during the planning phases and before implementation is emphasized.
