Investing in Experiential Training Appropriate for Preservice School Counselors
Akos, Patrick
Journal for Specialists in Group Work, v29 n4 p327-342 Dec 2004
An experiential compliment to didactic group work training has been a consistent feature of professional standards. Even so, diverse models have been proposed and debated. The uniqueness and importance of group work for school counselors demands an investment in experiential learning specific to the role of the school counselor. An experiential group model for preservice school counselors is presented, along with evaluation data and other methods of expanding experiential learning throughout the curriculum.
