Trends in Software for Children under Six
Buckleitner, Warren; Kalinowski, Michael
Exchange: The Early Childhood Leaders' Magazine Since 1978, n161 p66-69 Jan-Feb 2005
This article offers a discussion of the past, present, and future of children's interactive media. Here, lead author Warren Buckleitner, the editor of "Children's Software Revue" shares some of his book's findings, and answers a few questions pertaining to the current state of children's software. These include the following: (1) What is the current state of children's software? (2) What are a few things likely to be "hot" in the coming two years? and (3) What does some of the newest technology allow teachers to do that they could not easily do before? The author concludes by saying that one thing has not changed over the last 10 years--when a good piece of software or smart toy is matched with a young child, a powerful learning experience occurs. (Also offers a dozen no fail ECE titles web sites.)
