Birth Timing and the Division of Labor in Dual-Earner Families: Exploratory Findings and Suggestions for Future Research.
Coltrane, Scott
Journal of Family Issues, v11 n2 p157-81 Jun 1990
Examined domestic role-sharing of dual-earner couples (N=20) with school-aged children. Found postponing parenting encouraged male attachment to father role and promoted women's efforts to relinquish full household management responsibility. Reevaluated linkage of educational attainment to husbands' housework with reference to potential birth timing impacts. Suggests future research on divisions of household labor. (Author/CM)
