The Affective Reporting System was developed to improve the measurement of children's attitudes toward school and toward specific subjects. The reliability and validity of two new measures--Me and What I like Best--are described. (See also RIE: ED 161 961.) (GDC)

The attitudes of elementary and junior high school students toward school and toward seven subjects were investigated, as a function of grade level and sex. It was concluded that attitudes decline in higher grades, sex differences are reflected in attitudes, and negative attitudes exist toward social studies. (MH)
