Paik, Chie Matsuzawa; Michael, William B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2000
Added a sixth factor to the Dimensions of Self-Concept Scale-Form H (DOSC) (W. Michael and others, 1984), and examined its reliability and validity with a sample of 350 midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy. Results indicate satisfactory reliability for all six scales and an oblique six-factor model that supports the multidimensionality of the…

Kaiser, Henry F.; Michael, William B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
A formula is derived for ascertaining factor scores for the factor analytic method: Little Jiffy, Mark IV. This formula is then employed to derive a second formula giving an exact determination of the generalized Kuder-Richardson estimate of the reliability of scores on a Little Jiffy factor. (Author/JKS)

Benson, Jeri; Michael, William B. – International Journal of Educational Research, 1987
The purposes of evaluation design are stated. A description of experimental, quasi-experimental, survey, and naturalistic designs is presented. Emphasis is placed upon the identification of sources of invalidity in these designs that may compromise the accuracy of inferences regarding program effectiveness. (Author/JAZ)

Chen, Chin-Yi; Michael, William B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1993
Empirical validation of the first-order and higher-order factor structures of the structure-of-intellect (SOI) model was provided by reanalysis of a database of 39 measures administered to 178 Coast Guard Cadets. Results suggest that SOI could be reconceptualized as a pyramid-like hierarchical theory of intelligence. (SLD)

Isaac, Stephen; Michael, William B. – 1971
This book contains a collection of principles, methods, and strategies useful in the planning, design, and evaluation of studies in education and the behavioral sciences. It is not a technical, detailed study, but an overview, a summary of alternatives, an exhibit of models, and a listing of strengths and weaknesses, useful as a checking and…
