Developmental Differences in Sensitivity to Semantic Relations among Good and Poor Comprehenders: Evidence from Semantic Priming.
Nation, Kate; Snowling, Margaret J.
Cognition, v70 n1 pB1-B13 Feb 1999
Assessed semantic priming for category coordinates and function-related words in children with good or poor reading comprehension, matched for decoding skill. Found that both groups showed priming for function-related words, but poor comprehenders showed priming for category coordinates only if the pairs shared high-association strength. Good comprehenders showed priming for category-related words regardless of association strength. (Author/KB)
