Student expectations and actual labor market performance of a sample of Egypt's university graduates in 1978 are compared. It was found that economic rewards followed supply and demand, especially with regard to specialization. Expected or actual unemployment after graduation was found to be of short duration. (MSE)

Data on higher education students and graduates in the Philippines in 1977 is used to assess the ex ante student perceptions of the labor market against actual labor market outcomes. A comparison of expected and actual earnings by sample characteristics reveals a high degree of realism from the students. (Author/MLW)

Two government-induced distortions generate an excess demand for entry into the Greek higher education system. In Greece the private cost of higher education is too low and the government-set wage rate too high, thus contributing to the excess demand for higher education and an apparent "graduate unemployment" problem.
