Lowe, Patricia A.; Peyton, Vicki; Reynolds, Cecil R. – Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment, 2007
A sample of 79 individuals participated in the present study to evaluate the test score stability (8-week test-retest interval) and construct validity of the scores of the Adult Manifest Anxiety Scale-College Version, a new measure used to assess anxiety in college students, for application to graduate-level students. Results of the study…

Lowe, Patricia A.; Reynolds, Cecil R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2006
The psychometric properties of the Adult Manifest Anxiety Scale-Elderly Version (AMAS-E) scores were evaluated in two studies. In Study 1, the temporal stability and construct validity of the AMAS-E test scores were examined in a group of 226 older adults, aged 60 years and older. Results indicated adequate to excellent temporal stability (2-week…

Lowe, Patricia A.; Papanastasiou, Elena C.; DeRuyck, Kimberly A.; Reynolds, Cecil R. – Measurement & Evaluation in Counseling & Development, 2005
In this study, the authors investigated the temporal stability and construct validity of the Adult Manifest Anxiety Scale-College Version (AMAS-C; C. R. Reynolds, B. O. Richmond, & P. A. Lowe, 2003b) scores. Results indicated that the AMAS-C scores had adequate to excellent test score stability, and evidence supported the construct validity of the…

Reynolds, Cecil R. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1980
In support of the construct validity of the revised scale, a high correlation was observed between the revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale (CMAS) and the trait anxiety inventory, whereas there was no significant correlation with the state anxiety inventory. (Author)

Lowe, Patricia A.; Reynolds, Cecil R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2000
Performed exploratory factor analysis of the responses of 458 older adults, aged 60 to 100 years, to the Adult Manifest Anxiety Scale-Elderly Version (based on a scale by J. Taylor, 1953). Found a three-factor structure of anxiety consistent with current theories of anxiety that supports the construct validity of the measure. (SLD)

Reynolds, Cecil R. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1981
The Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale was administered to 534 children (grades 4-6) at the beginning and end of the school year. The total anxiety score correlated .68 across the nine-month period, supporting the temporal stability of the test. (Author/BW)

Lowe, Patricia A.; Reynolds, Cecil R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2004
Responses of 871 adults to the Adult Manifest Anxiety Scale-Adult version (AMAS-A) were factor analyzed using the method of principal axis factoring with promax rotation. Factor analysis yielded a four-factor solution: three anxiety factors (Worry/Oversensitivity, Stress, and Physiological Anxiety) and a Lie factor. The AMAS-A's three-factor…

Reynolds, Cecil R.; Richmond, Bert O. – 1978
The factor structure, and thereby the underlying construct of the What I Think and Feel Test (WITF) was determined. The delineation of subscales of anxiety within this revision of the Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale was significant, since anxiety is a multidimensional characteristic. Responses of 329 children (grades 1-12) to the 28 anxiety…

Reynolds, Cecil R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
A modified multitrait-multimethod validation matrix was generated to evaluate the construct validity of the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS). Results were consistent with the use of RCMAS as a measure of chronic, manifest anxiety levels in children. Large correlations occurred with other trait measures of anxiety. (Author/PN)

Reynolds, Cecil R.; Paget, Kathleen D. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1981
Responses to the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS) were factor analyzed with children (N=4972) between 6 and 19 years. Three anxiety factors emerged that were consistent with earlier studies. Factor structure of the RCMAS is for the most part invariant with regard to race and sex. (Author)
