Assessment of the State of School Effectiveness Research in the United States of America."
Stringfield, Sam; Herman, Rebecca
School Effectiveness and School Improvement, v7 n2 p159-80 1996
United States has shown considerable development within the school effectiveness and improvement fields. U.S. effectiveness research is contextually sensitive, small in quantity, and increasingly conducted within a "mixed methods" tradition. There is progress in describing and analyzing teacher and school effects and devising improvement-oriented programs that incorporate rigorous evaluation of effects. The effectiveness research prognosis is guardedly optimistic. (76 references) (MLH)
