Thompson, Bruce; Borrello, Gloria M. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1986
Factor adequacy and other results based on data from college students (N=359) provided positive evidence regarding the construct validity of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Second order factor analysis supported the appropriateness of the MBTI item weighting procedures. (Author/ABB)

Kier, Frederick J.; Melancon, Janet G.; Thompson, Bruce – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
The reliability and construct validity of scores on the Personal Preferences Self-Description Questionnaire (PPSDQ) (B. Thompson) were studied. Classical psychometric analysis of data from 641 participants (item and alpha analyses and both oblique and orthogonal exploratory factor analyses) indicate that the PPSDQ has reasonable properties. (SLD)

Melancon, Janet G.; Thompson, Bruce – 1988
This study applied one-parameter latent trait measurement theory to investigate the measurement characteristics of both forms of a multiple-choice measure of field-independence--the Finding Embedded Figures Test (FEFT). The FEFT has a multiple-choice format that may facilitate administration and scoring in comparison with use of supply-format…

Melancon, Janet G.; Thompson, Bruce – Psychology in the Schools, 1989
Investigated measurement characteristics of both forms of Finding Embedded Figures Test (FEFT). College students (N=302) completed both forms of FEFT or one form of FEFT and Group Embedded Figures Test. Results suggest that FEFT forms provide reasonable reliable and valid data. (Author/NB)

Thompson, Bruce; And Others – 1997
This study was conducted to investigate the construct validity of scores on the Personal Preferences Self-Description Questionnaire (PPSDQ), a measure of Jungian types. Confirmatory factor analysis methods were used to investigate the structures underlying PPSDQ responses of 641 university students. The model fit statistics were generally…

Melancon, Janet G.; Thompson, Bruce – 1994
This study was conducted to evaluate whether the adjectival self-description checklist may provide a viable method of quickly obtaining initial personality type information. The Personal Preferences Self-Description Questionnaire (PPDSQ) was administered to more than 420 college students, and data were analyzed using classical reliability analysis…

Thompson, Bruce; Borrello, Gloria M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1992
The utility of combining confirmatory factor analysis and second-order methods is illustrated in a study of responses of 487 undergraduate and graduate students to the love instrument of C. Hendrick and S. Hendrick. Second-order confirmatory methods allow the researcher to explore complex realities more thoroughly. (SLD)

Kier, Frederick J.; Buras, Avery R.; Thompson, Bruce – 1998
This study evaluated the reliability and construct validity of scores from the "Children's Role Inventory" (A. Potter and D. Williams, 1991). The measure specifies four roles fulfilled by children: Hero, Lost Child, Mascot, and Scapegoat. Theory and some research also suggest that adults continue to interact based on role assignments…

King, Jason E.; Melancon, Janet G.; Thompson, Bruce – 1999
Jungian measures have proven extremely popular, selling more than three million copies per year for use in various types of counseling. This study investigated the construct validity of scores from an alternative measure of Jungian personality, the Personal Preferences Self-Description Questionnaire (PPSDQ) (B. Thompson, 1996). Forms of the PPSDQ…

Thompson, Bruce; Cook, Colleen; Kyrillidou, Martha – Journal of Academic Librarianship, 2005
The present study investigated the validity of LibQUAL+[TM] scores, and specifically how total and subscale LibQUAL+[TM] scores are associated with self-reported, library-related satisfaction and outcomes scores. Participants included 88,664 students and faculty who completed the American English (n[AE] = 69,494) or the British English (n[BE] =…

Chongruksa, Jiratha; Thompson, Bruce – 1996
Attachment styles have been shown to be enduring and influential, and studies of attachment phenomena require scores that are reliable and valid. The present study investigated the psychometric integrity of scores on the Adult Attachment Scale using data from 283 college students. This instrument is an 18-item Likert scale that is an expansion of…
