Witmer, Sara E.; Roschmann, Sarina – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2020
It is critical to examine whether test accommodations function as intended in removing construct-irrelevant variance. The measurement comparability of a math test for students with emotional impairments and those without disabilities was examined. Results indicated the presence of limited differential item functioning (DIF) regardless of…

Kooken, Janice; Welsh, Megan E.; McCoach, D. Betsy; Johnston-Wilder, Sue; Lee, Clare – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2016
The Mathematical Resilience Scale measures students' attitudes toward studying mathematics, using three correlated factors: Value, Struggle, and Growth. The Mathematical Resilience Scale was developed and validated using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses across three samples. Results provide a new approach to gauge the likelihood of…

Fung, Joyce J. Y.; Yuen, Mantak; Yuen, Allan H. K. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2018
A Chinese version of the Online Self-Regulated Learning Questionnaire (OLSQ) was administered to 412 Hong Kong students of average ability and 374 students talented in mathematics (Grades 4-9, age 9-15 years). Data indicated that the Chinese OLSQ provides valid and reliable scores when used with these students.

Huang, Yun-Chen; Lin, Shu-Hui – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2015
This study aimed to develop and validate the Attitude Toward Calculus Inventory (ATCI). Results from three studies are reported that establish the reliability and validity of this instrument. An examination of the factor structure confirms that student attitudes can be explained in terms of four factors: self-confidence, value, enjoyment, and…

Pseekos, A. Chantelle; Dahlen, Eric R.; Levy, Jacob J. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2008
The authors describe the development and preliminary validation of the Academic Stereotype Threat Inventory, a self-report measurement of math-related stereotype threat among women. A preliminary version of the instrument was administered to 308 undergraduate women. Principal component analysis yielded a 3-factor solution. Convergent and…

Adelson, Jill L.; McCoach, D. Betsy – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2011
The Math and Me Survey was designed to measure elementary students' attitudes toward mathematics. The authors conducted content validation, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, item response theory, reliability, and external validity analyses to improve it and to test its psychometric properties.
