SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v107 n8 p52-53 Apr 2008
Having taken close to 5000 digital pictures in the last few years, the author can easily say that nearly half of them are of her students' artwork. As stated in her May 2006 article in "SchoolArts", "Digital Diversity," the author uses her photos in everything from digital presentations to parent communication, in permanent art exhibits in school, and in writing for "SchoolArts." A new initiative this year among the entire staff will be to produce K-12 "visual curriculum map" of sorts--a document highlighting each project they did during the year with visual examples of level two, three, and four work, along with rubrics and assessments, so that the entire department can work in their professional learning communities (PLCs) to improve student learning vertically and horizontally within the department. In this article, the author offers helpful tips to help teachers take decent pictures of their student's work.
