Engaging Caregivers of Students with Disabilities in Home Math Activities
Janice P. J. Fong1; Marah Sutherland1; Gena Nelson1
TEACHING Exceptional Children, v57 n5 p326-336 2025
In the current article, the authors outline ways for early childhood educators, such as general and special education teachers, district math coaches, and other personnel involved with school- and district-level math initiatives, to engage caregivers in home math activities, with a focus on concepts already taught in school and aligned with relevant grade-level standards. Given that math achievement gaps begin in kindergarten, and sometimes earlier, the authors focus on recommendations for caregivers of students in Grades K-2.
