Teachers' Perceptions of the Implementation, Utilization, and Effectiveness of Blended Learning with Students in Grades 9-12 during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Janna Doris Maxwell
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, William Carey University
COVID-19 changed the course of education. There had to be a way to adequately provide educational services to students in a safe and effective manner. Most school districts chose blended learning, to be referred to in this study as BL, as the best solution. This qualitative study was framed Siemens and Downes' learning theory of connectivism (Learning Theories, 2017). The research seeks to understand the perceptions of the implementation, utilization, and effectiveness of BL in a rural South Mississippi high school. There were 18 participants that contributed to the findings of this study. Seventy-two percent of the participants stated that BL was effective. The extra planning time and effectively using a learning management system, to be referred to in this study as LMS, were cited as the most important aspects need to successfully implement and use BL.
