Getting Started with Class Guitar
Eckels, Steve
Teaching Music, v13 n5 p26 Apr 2006
Teaching guitar is about much more than just the instrument. It is about developing positive habits, attitudes, skills, and thought patterns that are transferrable to other areas of life. In this article, the author shares some effective techniques in teaching classroom guitar. He presents his daily lesson structure and describes the four basic components of direct instruction of his lessons, which he calls the Four Ss--songs, skills, scales, and sight-reading. He also recommends things that a teacher can do using just one song. (Contains 1 figure and 14 resources.)
