Inter-American Understanding and the Preparation of Teachers. Bulletin, 1946, No. 15
Bathurst, Effie G.
US Office of Education, Federal Security Agency
To promote inter-American understanding, a number of public-school systems, teacher-preparing institutions, State and county education departments, and the U. S. Office of Education recently cooperated in a series of experimental or demonstration centers. This bulletin describes the work carried on by 22 of these centers aided by a grant from the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs and directed by an advisory committee of the U. S. Office of Education staff. After giving a brief overview of the problems, and a resume of early services of the U. S. Office of Education in promoting inter-American understanding, the bulletin reports the activities of the experimental centers for in-service and pre-service preparation of teachers for inter-American education. Appended are a list of participating centers, including their location and persons in charge, and a bibliography. (Contains 46 footnotes.) [Best copy available has been provided.]
