Investigation of Gifted 5th Grade 'Students' Proof Skills

This study investigates the proof skills of gifted 5th -grade students. The study was conducted using the document analysis method, a type of qualitative study. The study included 25 students, 11 females and 14 males, all diagnosed as gifted and attending fifth grade in the center of the city in southern Turkey. The sample of the group was selected by the method of convenient sampling. A sample proof test with 6 items was used as an instrument for data collection. The written and visual data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. Balacheff's proof levels were used to characterize the pupils' responses. According to the findings, 7.33 percent of the students' answers were at Level 4, 13.33 percent at Level 3, 32.66 percent at Level 1, and 46.66 percent at Level 2. The majority of the pupils' answers were deemed to be at Level 2 Crucial Experiment.
