The Impact Computerized Assessments Has on Quality Instruction with Students in Early Childhood
Leah M. Banks
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Wilmington University (Delaware)
This study analyzes the effect of the i-Ready program on Yorkship Family School kindergarteners and focuses on educating kindergarteners on computer-use, to tackle the i-Ready program. The i-Ready program makes it easier for the teachers to specialize in their instructions to each student and enhance effectiveness (Fokides & Zachristou, 2020). The PoP (Problem of Practice) is the initial step made towards progress; in this case, to enhance teachers ability with the i-Ready assessment to create targeted instruction. Specific values are set to influence PoP, such as commitment, service to others, and consistency, for the program to achieve positive results on educators and kindergarteners. The researcher used problem-based methodologies as well as quantitative analysis of i-Ready data to drive this study. According to research, the best approach to solving the problem of practice was implementing a computer aid program to enhance learning. To achieve the main goal, the i-Ready diagnostic assessment had to be given to measurement which skills the students were having difficulty with and to provide real-time data so that teachers could guide their instruction. After the first assessment, educators then analyze the progress made on the use of computers as well as the i-Ready program. There was significant growth for the students since they better understand the i-Ready system and use a computer effectively.
